The Running Space In Randwick Sydney

At BeFit Training Physio in Randwick, we know that lots of people in the eastern suburbs love running! Whether it’s just on the weekend or as a dedicated runner, it can be a very fulfilling, but also a very challenging sport. Your desire to move faster and more efficiently can create stresses on your body that lead to numerous running related injuries. Unfortunately, some of these injuries can result in being sidelined and unable to enjoy your favourite sport for extended periods of time while you heal.

Our Running Assessments & Sprint & Agility Program

So to help you run more efficiently, faster and without any pain, we created our Running Assessments & Sprint & Agility Program. In this program we examine the way your body moves as you run, because it’s this knowledge that allows us to help you recover quickly from any exiting injuries and prevent further injuries. Our experienced physios often find that small changes to your running technique can have you running better with little effort and more efficiency.

Some of the frequent injuries we have observed in runners include:

  • Heel, shin, foot and ankle pains.
  • Lower back pain, stress fractures and shin splints.
  • Planar fasciitis, hip bursitis and iliotibial band injuries.
  • Patella tendonitis and Achilles tendon pain.

In this program we offer you two different training options. The first is our Running Assessments Program and the second is our Sprint and Agility Program

Our Running Assessments Program

As a specialist running physio clinic, we commerce our assessment by taking a complete history of your running. This includes any previous and current injuries, how often you run and the distances you cover, as well as the goals you want to achieve. Then we assess how your body moves when you run and how you run, checking your foot stroke, cadence, stride length, flexibility, strength, alignment and many more features of your running gait.

Your running gait assessment is performed by a video analysis of you running on a treadmill at our clinic and also in your usual running environment. This is because you run differently on a treadmill, as opposed to a running track, park or path. To get the most out of our Running Assessments Program, we need to observe how and where you normally run.

Since a technique that helps one runner optimise their running might hinder another runner’s performance, we create individualised programs for each of our clients.

Our Sprint and Agility Program

To run faster and increase agility, you need a good running technique. To achieve this goal, we take you through a series of running mechanics in the form of drills. These drills build the three main components of a good running technique: front side mechanics, ground strike and heel recovery. We start practicing these drills by using ladder drills, agility poles and cone drills, moving on to more complex and cognitively demanding exercises, such as coordination of passing, catching and throwing. All of these drills optimise your sprint and agility in the sport of your choice, whether that’s running, basketball or football.
